Shoot Your Shot I

A moment they won’t forget

Hosted at York University, Shoot Your Shot I launched NoFlukes Foundation’s flagship experience. Over two days, youth engaged in basketball, mentorship, and culture alongside Shai, Nickeil, Metta World Peace, and Dave East. Meals, jerseys, prizes, and recognition ensured full participation and belonging.

“Access creates belief. Belief creates possibility.”

Held at the University of Toronto, Shoot Your Shot II brought together over 1,000 attendees and more than 120 youth from communities across the city. The program was designed to go beyond basketball—creating an environment where young athletes could experience what support, structure, and opportunity truly look like.

What We Created

We built a space centered on access, exposure, and community:

  • High level basketball training led by experienced coaches

  • Mentorship and leadership conversations grounded in real life experience

  • Shared meals and essential gear to remove barriers to participation

  • Direct interaction with professional athletes and role models

  • A safe, structured environment focused on growth and belonging

From Those Who’ve Lived It

A live Q&A featuring Shai Gilgeous Alexander, Nickeil Alexander Walker, Thomasi Gilgeous Alexander, and Allen Iverson gave participants direct insight into the journey behind success—both the challenges and the discipline required to overcome them.

Why It Matters

“Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not.”

For many of these youth, access is the missing piece. When given the right environment, mentorship, and support, they begin to see what is possible for themselves—on and off the court.

This is how confidence is built. This is how pathways are created.

Impact

  • 1,000+ attendees engaged

  • 120+ youth directly supported

  • $320,000+ raised to expand future programming

  • Ongoing community engagement beyond the event

Beyond One Day

Shoot Your Shot II is not just a single event—it is part of a larger commitment to building consistent support systems for underserved youth. The goal is long-term: to create opportunities that extend beyond the court and into education, leadership, and life.
